This is especially true for a piano teacher! Teaching has a lot to do with connection. The piano teacher/student MUST be a good fit!
Here's what I'm talking about:
As a young girl, I took piano lessons from 4 different teachers. My first beloved piano teacher was amazing and taught me so much! After several years, she was moving on to other things, and I was on the hunt for a new teacher. My mom found a VERY accomplished older gentleman to teach me. He was so skilled, but it was just not a good fit. I hated the songs he made me play; I hated his bad breath; he was big and looked "mean" (I was only about 10, so cut me some slack! LOL).
After 2 months with this teacher and many tears on my part, I was ready to throw in the towel and never play the piano again. Then, a piano teacher in my neighborhood called my mom. She said she didn't have room in her schedule for me, but had the feeling that I needed to be her student anyway. What a blessing! I continued with my lessons and excelled! The piano teachers in my life made all the difference! Finding a teacher that is a "good fit" with your child is KEY!
